In 2013, My parents and I went to the Philippines for vacation, to visit family from the mom’s side. We had a blast visiting there. We only go to the Philippines every four to five years. Davao is the city where we usually visit because my mom’s side of the family is from there. Usually it takes three to five airplanes just to get to Davao. The total travel time varies between twentyeight to thirty-six hours with layovers. When I was in sixth grade, I went to Florida for winter break. It was very warm in Florida especially, when Indiana is cold. Florida is called the sunshine state because it is warm all year around!
Florida is known for many tourist attractions but the popular place is Disney World. Every year my mom loves to go to Michigan for one reason, the Tulip Festival. My mom loves tulips! When anyone visits a tulip festival, there are many different selections of tulips! Your mind will be amazed how beautiful the tulips are. Last year, my mom wanted to go to Michigan to get different types of tulips. The tulip festival takes place in Holland, Michigan After our visit in Davao, my parents and I, went to visit my grandmother. My grandmother was in another city called, Leyte. Leyte is separated into two parts, the northern and southern.
When my parents and I arrived in Leyte, we saw all my grandmothers family members. Such as, her siblings, my great grandmother and cousins I didn’t even know about! Later on, we planned to have a gathering so that, everyone in the family can get together. While my parents and I were in Florida, we went to visit my dad’s cousin. We stayed at her house for a few nights. It was fun to stay at her house. She has two cute wiener dogs named Abby and Maggie. Abby is the energetic one while, Maggie is the shy and less playful dog. We rarely get to see my dad’s cousin so we made the moments last while we could.
Eventually we had to leave because, we had other plans to go to different destinations in Florida. Since my mom wanted to get more tulip bulbs, my dad surprised her to a weekend getaway to Michigan. My mom was really excited that she got to go to the tulip festival again! She loves her tulips! As soon as my mom heard the news about going to another tulip festival, she began to pack. Soon as we were all done packing, my dad starts going around the house checking if the house is secured. Such as, if there are no irons turned on. Afterwards, we were all ready to leave.
We got inside of the car then, we drove our way to Michigan. Everyone agreed to go to a specific place. We planned to go to an island. Canigao Island is a beautiful place. It is a tourist must see designation. My family and I arrived on the island by a boat. As soon as we all got off the boat, we started walking towards medium sized huts. We all started placing our belongings inside the hut. Therefore, all the adults started to prepare the food. Hours had passed by, the day had gone by fast and it was time to pack up. Everyone was gathering their belongings and afterwards, it was time to head back to the boat and leave.
The other reason why my parents and I came to Florida, was because we wanted to go Disney World! Disney World is a magical place to go to. Everyone who visits Disney World will leave with a big smile on their faces. It is not only an amusement park. It makes everyone’s childhood dreams come true! While I was in Disney World, the day passes by so fast you won’t even feel it! I had too much fun to realize that the day was almost finished. Going to Florida was a success! A few hours later, we had arrived in Michigan. My dad pulling up to the hotel and checking us in. There is a small mall by the hotel so we spent the rest of the day at the mall.
The next day, it was time to get ready to go to the Tulip festival. After everyone was finished getting ready, we went to the car and drove away to the festival. At the Tulip festival, there are many tulip bulbs planted the year before, so that the customers will see how the tulips will turn out when they are ready to bloom. As soon as my mom as seen all the tulips, she had a list where she could check off the tulips she wanted. In the end, my mom had to show the lady which tulips she wanted and the amount of each bulb of the type. Tulip festivals are quite interesting because you get to see all the pretty tulips.
