Essay about Personal Narrative: My Trip To Blue John Canyon

I was getting ready for my trip at blue john canyon I was getting all my stuff packed. My water, ropes, carabineers and my knife every thing that I needed for my trip, I went out got in my truck and left It was going to be a decently long trip but I was ready. It took I few hours but I finally made it to blue john, it was late so I went to sleep. Saturday morning I went for my long bike ride to make it to the big drop where I wanted to go. It was a seventeen mile bike ride that’s pretty far and it was tough with the cross wind plus carrying fifteen pounds of supplies.

When I arrived i started hiking and admiring the beautiful sites. Then I heard two voices which was a surprise because not many people come here. There were two women I went to go talk to them. I said hi im aron. One of them said im kristi and allow me to introduce you to my friend megan. Its nice nice to meet you I said. What are you two doing here I asked. Kristi said the were going to the cave that holds a big water hole. Megan sain they were kind of lost so I helped them, I knew this place well it was my second home.

We chatted about our adventures while we went to their destination telling my story about getting in trouble with a bear. When we got to the cave we took a picture. Then they asked me if I wanted to go to a Scooby doo party I said yes, so they gave me directions for the party. Then we parted. I headed to the big drop it was a ten minute walk when I arrived there was a big slog it was cool so I stopped to take a picture and I moved on then there was a small ledge that I needed to climb off of there was a boulder that I needed to step on to get over the ledge the boulder was sturdy so I grabed on the boulder to help me get own the suddenly the boulder came loose and me and the boulder fell i landed on the ground fine but the boulder was falling and it was so fast for me to do anything all that I did was put my hands over my head so I could push it away but then slam I yelled oww! Then everything froze I saw my arm crushed between the boulder and the canyon wall. I stared at it, I was shocked.

I tried to lift it with my left hand but it wouldn’t budge so I tried slamming into it with my shoulder didn’t work but I kept lifting and slamming into it anyway because this was the only chance I got to move the boulder with brute force because of the adrenaline. So I kept trying and trying but nothing happened. I stood and thought for a moment to figure out what I can do, so I decided to take all my stuff and place it on the rock my water, carabineers, ropes, knife, CD player, extra AA batteries and my video recorder I put everything I had on the rock too see what I could use that would help me get out.

I looked at my watch and surprisingly its already been forty minutes since I got stuck. Then I saw my knife I picked it up! noticed immediately it was dull. I thought that maybe I could chip at the boulder and hope that I could get enough rock out to free my hand so I started chipping click, click, click the knife was making loud clicking sounds every time I hit the rock and it didn’t seem like much rock was coming off just a little bit off dust was coming off.

It was really dry sandstone and it would take a lot of time to free my hand at this pace maybe three days or more. I started to get worried because I don’t think I can last that long especially with the very small amount of food and water I had. Huh water I pulled out my water bottle opened the lid and took a drink I gulped a mouthful down and I realized that was a big mistake I knew now that I had to save as much water as I could because I might be here a long time.
