Throughout the years, billions of individuals have inhabited the Earth, each with their own lives and their own particular choices. With every choice made, these individuals have started to compose their legacy, which is the exemplification of who they are and what they have accomplished. I, like the majority of the rest of the world, am starting to leave a legacy as well, and plan to continue and enhance it along the shining stone path known as my life. A major part of one’s legacy is the thing that one considers as success. This is vital in light of the fact that these triumphs are the outline or bold printed part of your legacy.
For me, success is an achievement many others haven’t been able to accomplish, or an achievement you had to surpass others to achieve. This may include winning a tournament, any kind of race, getting exceptional grades, or winning an award. Success can also be being a vital part in another’s life or legacy. The very definition of success definitely varies with each person and their opinions, but no matter what one thinks of success, these successes are the gold lining of your legacy. In all modesty, I would say I have accomplished a lot for a kid of my age.
As of now, I have placed in soccer tournaments with various soccer clubs (some of them in the premier division, which is the highest division in MOSA), won elementary school chess tournaments, won the “Catena Fun Run” for my age group, and got the most noteworthy presidential grant there is when I graduated fifth grade. I self-taught myself the piano and can play many classical pieces such as “Turkish March” and “Nutcracker”, am in honors math and the gifted and talented program, made “Back in Black” band for my saxophone, and got to go to all the track meets for the 200 meter run, even winning one.
Last of all, I received all A+s in every subject for every marking period in 7th grade. Each and every one of these achievements is a piece of my story, or my legacy, and could be considered as great accomplishments for one of my age. Obviously, though, I still have a lot more room to accomplish more and grow, and add bits of success to my legacy. I would like to have the success of being accepted into Biotec, and later go on to become a doctor of some sort. As I proceed with my life, I would also want accomplishments in my interests, activities, and schooling to become part of my legacy as well.
However, accomplishments are great, but something else is an important part of you legacy- change. As of now, I haven’t really made any immense or significant changes to the school or world. I mean, with everything you accomplish you definitely alter your school and world in some small way, but when I think of a great big change, I think of something that positively impacts everyone in a specific group, such as a school or world. This is why again, I don’t think I have made any huge changes as of now, but I would like to and without a doubt plan on doing so in the future.
That’s part of the reason I want to become a doctor- with every person they help heal, those people can get back on their feet and change the world for the better. As I mentioned earlier, I also consider success to be a strong influence in another’s legacy, or touches the lives of others. In my legacy, I will touch the lives of my family, friends, and hopefully the vast population of the people I encounter. I plan to do this by being kind and funny, and by being the best person I can possibly be.
As I touch the lives of these people, I would like to be remembered as extraordinary. Of course, everyone wants to be remembered as extraordinary, but within that, I want to be remembered as an intelligent, accomplished being with a great personality, who can be fun but takes things seriously, such as this essay. For example, some may transform this essay into an opportunity to deride others or to have a social conversation, but I want to be able to be sophisticated to some degree and get my point across.
And now that I think about it, I want to be remembered like my essays- somewhat sophisticated and expressive with personality, and can still be taken completely seriously. Everyone has an opportunity to create a fantastic legacy. What you do with this opportunity is up to you. As Rasheed Ogunlaru once said “Legacy is not what’s left tomorrow when you’re gone. It’s what you give, create, impact, and contribute today while you’re here that then happens to live on. ” And may everyone’s legacy live on.
