Your appearance is a part of who you are. It helps to make you unique from others. Changing your appearance can be a nervewrecking experienced. Like most people in the world, my appearance is important to me. I like to look my best, as much as possible. Most people have a favorite quality about their appearance, such as their eyes, teeth, etc. My favorite quality of my appearance was my long hair. I loved my hair, but I was growing bored with it. So, I decided to cut my hair short. Cutting my hair was a nerve-wrecking and an interesting experience, that dramatically changed my appearance.
Ever since the age of 4 or 5, I have always had long hair that was past my shoulders. I loved long hair. As a child, I would see people with long hair to their lower back, and I would want hair that long. I only ever got my hair trimmed: I never got it cut. By the time I was 16 years old, I had hair that cascaded down to the lower part of my back. I loved my long hair. I loved putting it in a bun, braiding it, curling it, and just trying new styles with it. But, by the time I was 17, I had grown tired of having long hair and I wanted a change.
After much deliberation, I decided to get my hair cut short. I, also, decided to donate my hair to Lock of Love. Lock of Love is and organization that give hairpieces to children in need of them due to having medical conditions that causes them to permanently lose their hair. After I decided to get my hair cut, it took a few months for me to actually get it done. I was nervous about doing it. I didn’t know if I would like it or if I would look good with short hair. My hair have always grown at an extremely slow pace.
So, if I didn’t like my hair cut, I would be stuck with it for a while. I finally worked up the courage to get my hair cut on January 3rd, 2015. I was anxious the whole day before my appointment. The worse part of the haircut was when the stylist cut off the ponytail, which held most of hair. It was strange to see almost all of my hair gone. It took the stylist about 20 minutes to work her magic on my remaining hair. But, she did an amazing job on it. I was stunned when I saw my new haircut for the first time.
I looked incredibly different. But, I was happy that I was able to donate about 9 inches of my hair to Lock of Love. After having long hair for most of my life, it was a bit of a struggle to adjust to short hair. I would go to run my fingers through my hair, only to find a small amount of hair to do so with. I had to find new ways to style my hair: I could no longer put my hair in a bun or a ponytail. I had to get my hair cut about every 6 weeks to maintain my haircut. There is positives to having short hair, though.
My hair have more volume now than it ever did with long hair. Short hair is easier to take care of than long hair. I don’t use as much shampoo or conditioner as I used to. My hair air dry quicker now. Overall, short hair is easier to have than long hair. Overall, my hair received positive comments and compliments I received a few negative comments, but they don’t matter. I love my hair and that’s is the only thing that matters. I look younger than 18 with short hair. So, I often get asked about my age. leven got told I looked 12 years old a few time.
I have got mistaken as a boy once, which I’m not quite sure why. Mostly, I received positive comments and compliments. My experience with short hair have been good. I love my short hair. Short hair is easier to take care of than long hair. Sometimes, I miss my long hair and I don’t always like the comments my hair gets. But, I am glad that I chose to cut my hair and donate it. It was, by far, one of the best decisions that I have ever made. One day, I will grow my hair out to donate it again. But, I’m keeping my short hair for a while.
