Gun Control is a huge issue in the United States. It was declared in our constitution in the 2nd amendment that we have the right to bear arms. Every person is entitled through the second amendment to legally own and use fire arms. There are many issues that have come up with gun control: conceal and carry, semi-automatic weapons, and gang violence. Many people in this beautiful country we call the United States, feel like they need to take away the right to bear arms. To me I believe this is wrong. I believe you should be able to legally own and operate a weapon in a safe and secure manner.
Anyone that is a law abiding citizen should be able to own a firearm. My first argument, conceal and carry, I believe should be legal in all states. This will prevent mass shootings, robberies, and many criminal issues. For example, a person walks into a church with a gun, with the intentions of killing many people because of the religion, hate crime, or anything else that would be going through their head, a church member with a gun could stop this with out a single person being harmed except the gunman.
Guns could protect the lives of many innocent people. The fact f the matter is if there is a person with a gun, most shootings could be lessened if not stopped. There is not always a police officer at every place, our country just doesn’t have the money for that. What happened in Charlotte, North Carolina, would have never happened if someone had a gun, or would have been lessened. This is why conceal and carry needs to legal in all states. I have heard many arguments to this issue in which I can understand some.
For Example, two men are in a bar and get in a fight, one man says let’s take this outside, now these men are out having a dual like old western times. This, I agree, is wrong. Of coarse, you are going to have these issues hear and there but the benefits far out way the disadvantages. So to the people out there telling me how I am wrong and this is not the answer, ask your self, “Do I was to be one of those people in a restaurant shot because I, or some one else couldn’t defend innocent people? If you think about it that way, I bet 95% of the people would agree on conceal and carry.
The other 5%, just go ahead and have your opinion and hope your strict gun laws will stop them. Another issue, in the United States, is to ban semi-automatic eapons. Liberals believe that if a person has only one round in a firearm, they will be less likely to kill people because of limited ammunition. This in my opinion, won’t stop a single shooting. If a person has their intentions on killing someone with a gun, a single shot weapon isn’t going to stop them.
For example, if a person wants to kill you with a weapon, they are going to find any way possible to kill you. It doesn’t matter if it’s a single shot, or fully automatic, they are going to kill you with a gun. Taking away semi-automatic weapons will inflict on people’s hobbies. Anything from deer hunting to trap shooting, will affect the sport drastically. In many states, it is legal to have many rounds in a firearm while hunting. This allows the hunter to have multiple shots the buck that could potentially feed their family.
In Illinois this past year, 52,000 deer were killed on the first weekend of firearm season. That number would drop drastically if people weren’t allowed to have semi-automatic weapons. Another reason why I believe semi-automatic weapons are great, is home invasions. If you are in your house at night, and some comes into your house trying to rob the stuff you worked our butt off for, you should have multiple rounds to defend your stuff and yourself. The chance of you stopping them with one shot is very slim compared to if you had multiple rounds of ammunition.
I understand why people think this is wrong because of misfiring multiple rounds and potentially causing harm to innocent people, but would you want to be reloading a weapon because you missed? I don’t think so. You are going to want multiple rounds of ammunition to protect yourself from the intruder until the threat is eliminated. Of course there are going to be incidences like the grandma killing her randdaughter because of misjudgment, but weather it was a semi-automatic weapon or a single shot wouldn’t have changed a single thing. Gang violence is another big topic.
Gang violence is purely based off of one persons belief and loyalty to a certain neighborhood. A lot of gang related shootings could be stopped with someone having a gun. I’m not saying every instance could, some instances could be worse. I believe that our government should have more strict laws on who owns a gun, no felons or gang related people should be able to operate a weapon. If our government could set aside a few million or billions of dollars to eeping the bad people from owning or possessing a fire arm, we could stop the gang violence and limit the casualties of innocent people.
In certain cases if a person were to legally possess and know how to effectively operate a firearm in a gang related brawl they could easily stop the aggressors and eliminate the threat to other people. I believe that with concealed carry that the gang violence in major areas would lessen by fifty percent or better. I also believe that we could stop gang violence once and for all, not with banning firearms, but with just spending money to prevent the weapons from getting nto the wrong hands. In this essay I covered how gun control is a bad thing.
No matter how many laws you make, or even if they ban guns, they will always be and issue that we can’t escape from. Guns have been part of the American culture for to long to just take them away. Many different turning points for the worse in gun related violence could be stopped by concealed carry. Gang violence would lessen with just more restrictions on who can own a firearm and possess one, that is simply just our government paying more money into stopping the weapons from getting into the wrong hands.
I also covered why semi automatic weapons are a good thing and aren’t just for the worst cases, a person with the intent to kill will still kill, regardless of the rounds he is able to fire in a certain amount of time. The point of this whole essay is to get through to people that criminals don’t listen to laws, but law-abiding citizens do. My hope is that this essay changed you point of view for the better, and that you now understand that guns are not such a bad thing after all. Like Justin Moore says in his song “Guns”, as long as I’m alive, they won’t take my guns
