Has there ever been that one thing that drives someone insane and has no power over something to change it? Or have that annoying noise that constantly pops up and never goes away? Like an itch that can never be found, or being stuck behind someone going slow in the fast lane and they will not to let others pass. Or someone is smacking his or her gum in your face really loudly. The biggest pet peeve that others might have is that people don’t use turn signals to indicate where they are going, or to help prevent the cause of accidents on the highway.
Not using turn signals can sometimes cause accidents, can injury to person driving, or just really aggravate the other driver. Using turn signals is a great way to let others behind the driver, know exactly where someone is going. Turn signals help by not making others mad or having them guess where someone is going all the times. People using turn signals on an highway going at fast speeds allows others to make decisions quickly to either speed up or move out the way, and allow them to be safe.
For example, if there is an accident on a two lane highway and you’re trying move over and exit, using a turn signal will allow the person behind know that you are trying to move and not cause an altercation. Drivers want to know where another driver is going especially when they a multiple lane change, so they don’t run into them if they decide to move into the same lane as the other person. Turn signals is extremely important to allow other drivers to know which way someone is moving, either left or right.
This helps prevent people moving into the same lane as the person in next lane. In rare occasions, people decide to move into the same lane at the same time as someone else, which nearly causes an accident. Because of this, someone has to make the split decision to move back over and allow the other driver to have the lane. Then the other person trying to move over can get behind them and continue driving. The hardest thing to do without using a turn signal is merging onto the highway and not causing an accident.
Eighteen-wheelers are the worst about speeding up or moving out the way, which causes others to slow way down. Slowing down onto the highway is extremely dangerous because everyone coming up behind the driver is going at least sixty-five to seventy miles per hour. Using signals will ensure safety and allow others to be comfortable while driving short or long distances. Moving from lane to lane is very nerve racking and that it takes timing to decide whether to move over or not. Moving from lane to lane has to be made in a split decision and have no hesitation of doing it.
Being cut off is dangerous and sometimes causes accidents, and often times causes serious injuries to the person being cut off. People that are in a rush are often the ones who cut people off because they are too impatient to wait and want to get to where they need to be in a hurry. Some people speed because they hate going slow and they “forget” to use turn signals to save time while they are driving. Cutting people off is pointless to do because eventually they get to where they need to be, but others want to be there and not wait.
Due to having a blind spot on cars, it makes it hard to see people coming up to the driver on the side of the vehicle. Also, cutting off people has caused people to swerve and since they are going too fast slow down quick enough, it causes them to flip the car and cause serious damage to the person driving and to the vehicle. But one reason why people would not have to use their turn signals is in case they have an emergency and have to get to the hospital as quickly as possible. Normally hazard lights will be turned on to let other drivers know that they are in a hurry and that they need to move.
People in an unexpected event have more courtesy from drivers, due to the fact that they are in a hurry and that they have to get somewhere extremely quickly. People that are driving with their hazards have a little bit of more freedom by driving faster than others, swerve in an out of traffic and not get into huge trouble and, have the freedom to have people move out of their way. Being courteous to those with hazards is important because they have to be able to move around on the highway without having to worry about people being in their way and having to slow down, and not get to where they have to be as soon as possible.
Therefore people using hazard lights can have more freedom by not using turn signals as often as those who do not need to use hazard lights. Turn signals are a big problem while driving on the highway at high speeds and trying to prevent accidents from happening. Letting people know which direction is extremely important while driving. Not only does it offer the other driver to be ready for the other driver to move over, it gives them time to make a decision on what to do.
It also allows them to make room for the driver trying to move over and gives them a chance to assure they have a possibility to move and get into the fast lane. Turn signals is also a good thing to use to help prevent the chances of cutting someone off and having them be upset or cause an injury. But sometimes it is okay to not use turn signals, due to having an emergency and need to be there as fast as possible. Therefore, turn signals are a big pet peeve and more people should use turn signals while driving on the highway.
