This worker Naisha Lawrence and Case work Supervisor Kim Drayton was able to meet with Ms. Kochan, Christopher, Michael, Stephen and Aiden. The visit occurred at the family’s home located at 19 Schlinder drive Rockaway New Jersey. The purpose of the visit was to provide Ms. Kochan with background information on Dr. Slivovitz, the parent coordinator that was found to work with the family. Additionally the worker wanted Ms. Kochan to sign a release of information so that this worker could provide Dr. Slivovitz with the parent coordinator. Additionally, the worker wanted to address a concern raised by Mr. Cornelius regarding the way Ms. Kochan had spoken to their son Michael while on vacation.
Lastly the worker wanted to speak to the family as to how the children are progressing in therapy and how thing are coming along with the visits with their dad and home life. The worker greeted the family as she entered the home. The worker was able to speak with Michael in his room. Michael shared with the worker that he wanted to spend more time alone with his mother. He felt that his mother spoils Christopher. He stated that he was supposed to spend time with his mother and all they did was replace Christopher I pad.
He stated that Christopher smashed his I pad and during his mother son time everything they did was for Christopher. He stated that he only got a case for his phone. Michael got teary eyed and stated that all he wants is to spend time with his mother. The worker asked Michael if he spoke to his mother about spending more time with her. He stated no. The worker asked him if that would be something that he would do. He did not reply. The worker asked Michael if he spoke to his counseling about his feelings and wanted to spend more time with mom. Michael stated that he did not.
The worker asked Michael if he would feel comfortable speaking to his counseling her stated yes. The worker encouraged Michael to speak to his counselor and maybe he and his counselor could speak with mom about his feelings. Michael agreed to do so. The worker asked Michael how was his vacation. He stated it was good. He stated that his mother got robbed. He told the worker that they had to borrow 1000 dollars from the grandparents. He stated that it was a nice vacation. The worker asked Michael if anything happen while on vacation that made him feel uncomfortable. Michael stated no.
The worker asked Michael if he felt fearful at anything during the vacation. He stated no. The worker asked Michael if anyone on that went on the trip with him made him feel uncomfortable. Michael stated no. The worker asked Michael how school was going. He stated school was good. The worker asked Michael how his evaluator project went. He stated that he is still working on it. The worker asked Michael how was his visit with his dad. He stated that they are going good. He stated that he wants things to go back to how they once were. The worker asked Michael if he had any questions for the worker.
He stated no. The worker thanked Michael for speaking with the worker and the visit ended. The worker was able to speak to Stephen. Stephen was lying on his mother’s bed. The worker asked Stephen how is things. He stated things are good. Stephen was not focused on as he was on his tablet. The worker attempted to get Stephen attention asking him what he was working on his tablet. He stated that he was playing Pokemon. The worker asked Stephen how was his vacation. He told the worker that his vacation was cool. He shared that his mother got rob and have to asked his mother parents for 1000 dollars.
He stated that he had a good time in Florida. The worker asked Stephen if anything occurred while on vacation that made him or his brothers feels uncomfortable Stephen stated no. He stated that they had a good time on vacation. The worker asked Stephen how school is coming along. Stephen told the worker that school is good. He stated that he does not have any complaints. The worker asked Stephen if he wanted to ask the worker questions. He stated no. The worker asked Stephen how the visits with his father are. He stated that the visits are good. He stated that he likes hanging out with his father.
He stated that he visit with his father alone because he goes to ICPC on Thursdays. He stated he likes hanging out with his father. The worker asked Stephen how is his therapy going. He stated it was good and that he did not have any complaints. The worker asked Stephen if he had any questions or concerns. He stated no. The worker thanked Stephen for his time and the visit ended. The worker was able to speak to Christopher. Christopher asked the worker what was her name. The worker told Christopher her name. Christopher than asked the worker what was her address.
The worker told Christopher that her address was 22 Mill street Paterson New Jersey. The worker noticed that Christopher had a baby small baby doll in his hand. The worker asked Christopher what was the baby the baby name. He told the worker that the baby name was Tina. He stated that he love tiny. He looked at tiny and himself in the mirror and kissed tiny and told tiny that she was so cute. The worker asked Christopher how long he had tiny. The worker He stated that he got her from the store. Christopher spends a few minute laughing and playing with tiny telling her how cute she was.
The worker asked Christopher how was school. He stated that school was great. The worker asked Christopher when the last time he visited with his dad was. He stated that he visited on yesterday. The worker asked Christopher how was the visit. He told the worker that the visit was good. He stated that tiny went to the visit with dad. The worker asked Christopher how was his vacation. He stated that the vacation was great. He stated that He stated that he does not have any complaints. The worker asked Christopher if he had any questions for the worker he stated that he did.
The worker asked Christopher what was his question. Ms. Kochan was hesitant to sign the releases. The worker told Ms. Kochan that before service can begin her and Mr. Cornelius would need to agree to participate in the services and sign release in order for the Division to provide and Dr. S. requested that the Division provide the most recent psychological evaluations. Ms. Kochan told the worker she did not understand why the doctor wanted the old reports. The worker told Ms. Kochan that he requested paperwork on your family. The worker explained to Ms. Kochan that he wants paper from the courts as well.
The worker told Ms. Kochan that she explained to the worker that she did not have access to that record. The worker explained to Ms. Kochan that she and Mr. Cornelius will need to provide Dr. Slivovitz with additional information. Ms. Kochan asked the worker about the program coordinator. The worker told Ms. Kochan that the once Mr. Cornelius and herself agreed to participate in this service the session should begin. Ms. Kochan stated that even if Mr. Cornelius does not agree to do the parent coordinator. She still wants the service for herself.
The worker explained to Ms. Kochan that the parent coordinator requires both parents to participate in the session. Ms. Kochan asked the worker if the coordinator meets with both parents at the same time. The worker responded yes. The worker told Ms. Kochan that once Mr. Cornelius agreed to partake in the services, the doctor would reach out to the her and Mr. Cornelius to set up sessions. Ms. Kochan reiterated if Mr. Cornelius does not want to partake she still can benefit from it. The worker told Ms. Kochan that she would update her once she speaks to Mr. Cornelius and the Dr. Slivovitz. The worker asked Ms. Kochan how was her vacation.
She stated that she was nice. She stated that she got robbed but they still have a nice time. The worker told Ms. Kochan that Ms. that it was brought to the Division attention that there was a video of her threating her son Michael stating that she would knock him out. Ms. Kochan denied saying anything like that. She stated that she would never speak to her children in that manner. Ms. Kochan stated that she would like to see the video. The worker told Ms. Kochan that she did not see the video. Ms. Kochan again denied speaking to her children in that manner.
The worker explained to Ms. Kochan that the Division has to address concerns brought to their attention. Ms. Kochan smiled and stated that she understood. The worker asked Ms. Kochan if she had any questions are concerns. She responded no. The worker told Ms. Kochan that she has noticed that Christopher speech has improved. Ms. Kochan walked outside with the worker and Case work supervisor and asked if we could bring someone that has experience working with children with autism. Ms. Drayton shared with Ms. Kochan that this worker has worked with children with autism. Ms. Kochan stated that she did not know the worker had experience with children with autism.
The worker told Ms. Kochan about her experience the worker also shared that she had participated in training regarding autism and has a pleather of literature on the subject matter. The worker asked Ms. Kochan what are some techniques she uses when speaking with Christopher to get him to speak more. Ms. Kochan shared with the worker that she avoids why questions. The worker thanked Ms. Kochan for her tips. The worker shared with Ms. Kochan that Christopher is more verbal than before. She stated that his behaviorist Ally and the school he attends now are helping in this area. The worker thanked Ms. Kochan for her time and greeted her goodbye.
