Hello and good morning ladies and gentlemen, honorable judges, worthy opponents, and our wonderful teacher. First, I would like to say thank you to side opposition for your wonderful speech. As the second speaker for side affirmative, I will begin by refuting and deconstructing some of the arguments put forth by side opposition, and then I will continue with the affirmative case. As side opposition has said that we should help starving and homeless people by ending the funds towards space research, and yes, there are issues that do plague us as a race.
There is poverty and injustice in the world. While these issues exist and should certainly not be ignored, the funds put forth to space exploration have a major impact and are no less of a priority. Remember, our goal here is to create a balance, not completely give up one option for the other. While it is true that the poor need help, over ten times more of the US’s National Budget for 2014 has gone into welfare than into space exploration. So why isn’t welfare too expensive? We seem to be spending a lot more on it than space exploration as it is.
These problems will likely not be solved by the welfare, but as technology improves from space research for example, fire alarms were invented by NASA, so will the lives of every man, woman, and child regardless of gender, skin color, or wealth. Space exploration needs focus and funding, it is representative of our future, and will secure it. Space exploration is the most important investment we could possibly make. Another point that side opposition has said is that one we find another planet, we will waste our resources.
My partner and I don’t believe that we have said that we would want to grab resources from other plants and to waste and teach our population to not conserve resources. We believe that resources are very limited in one planet and with a growing population it would be hard to give people the necessary things they would need to survive. Also side affirmative believes that we are not trashing our earth and moving on yet we are finding a new planet to find more space as our population is growing near to 10 billion.
The last and final point I will like to rebut against side opposition’s argument is that they have said that with the excessive spending in space research and exploration the countries are exceeding their budgets. The government should focus on and invest in what citizens need most, such as a good education, economy, shelter, food, and health care. Side opposition is thinking too narrow minded we should think with a bigger picture, if our population grows to 20 billion and our citizens are out of resources such as oil, what do they need more?
We need to think about the deep future as a society. A better education, economy, shelter, food, and health care or would they want a new place to live which would have all of those plus more space to live. And now I will begin my construction speech We, side affirmative believe the proposition should stand because the investment in space research and exploration has lead to many discoveries, inventions, and have provided many jobs.
My partner spoke about that even spending billions and billions of dollars in research it is worth it as scientific discoveries are not without costs and risks and, now, I will speak why we should still invest into space exploration. My first point is that the investment towards space exploration has lead to many discoveries. Another discovery that we have found My second point is that the investment towards space exploration has lead to many inventions and discoveries that benefit the scientific community as well as making life more safe and convenient.
My third point is that the investment toward space space Exploration has given us many, many technologies that are essential. Satellites were some of the first venturers into space and are another critical part of our society. Weather Forecasting (Satellites. Very important for hurricanes and dangerous storm systems, have saved lives and help us prepare for the worst. ) Velcor and non-stick pans! (Mostly a joke, but hey, they work! ) (General Technology. ) GPS (Very critical if your lost somewhere, has saved lives! (Satellites. ) Long range television! (Satellites. ) Long Range Communication (Phones,Cellphones, etc. ) (Satellites. ) Internet. (Satellites, and power lines of course. ) Such as the If we do find a new plant it can produce more jobs. We wouldn’t have know that the earth was not the center of the universe if it wasn’t for space research and we wouldn’t have know other plants but ours if it wasn’t for space research. As my partner has said if we invest money into space research we usually find something new or we don’t.
Has created jobs Even though we spend money, the money will eventually flow back into the economy Soon, the Earth will simply not be big enough and we need to start considering our future as a species. the internet has been so revolutionary i truly believe we need to consider it a new age, the post internet era, because it has fundamentally changed our world for the better, and we wouldnt have had that if not for government funded research. space Exploration has given us many, many technologies that are essential.
