As a spit is a technique in the rap (rhythmic, fast speaking), with which certain rhymes are used. Here, words or word sequences are rhymed with one another, which are (almost) identical, whereby they partly have the same character material (see Zwillingsreim), but do not mean the same thing. The effect is achieved either by the fact that the respective rhyming word has different meanings in the same spelling (see Identical rhyme), or the rhymes are separated at different points and thus new words arise. If, for example, the word sequence Alter Buimer is separated differently, it becomes Old Reimer. The noun spit as well as the verb to spit are also used mainly in the English-speaking world, but also as a term for the rap song itself.
The term is derived from the English verb to spit, which can be spit or even hiss. The translation therefore refers to a specific property of rapeseed. The analogy between the spitting out of words and the rapid projection or even expulsion of fast sequences of words is indeed not so far-fetched and appears obvious.
As described, however, there is also a very specific rhyme technique. This is about the fact that the same or the same letter material is rhymed with each other, but each has a different meaning. Let’s take a look at an example of rapper Eko Fresh:
Even the man, I am an outstanding guy
Show me a rapper, I surpass the guy
This example is taken from the second stanza of the track Bittespitte 2010, which already refers to the spitting in the text in the title. In this case, the word sequence of superior type will be rhymed to the type. It is true that the noun type remains the same, but two words become more pronounced from the adjective. Accordingly, the rhymed elements sound almost the same and are based on similar letters, but have a different meaning. This is called spitting. Let us look at another example:
After that I have an adventure at the hotel with her
Cocaine and sparkling wine, for me the evening is expensive
These lines are from Farid Bangs Please Spitte 5000. Also in this example, the respective rhyming words (endreim) are at the end of the line. The noun adventure and the rhyming word sequence (evening, expensive) sound almost identical, but have a different meaning. Farid Bang spittet in this text, which also already reveals the title. Let us look at a final example of Kool Savas:

The example is taken from Kool Savas’ Track Deutschland 1. In this case, the rhyming words are not at the end of the line, but inside. Accordingly, it is not a question of an end, but of an inner rhyme. In principle, other rhymes would also be conceivable. In the rap, however, it is mostly the beginning, end, or internal rhythms which are used in spitting.
