The Elizabeth Age

The first queen of England is Elizabeth I. She became such a great queen that she gave her name to her time, the Elizabeth Age. However, she was the only surviving child of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. She was born in the year 1533, and died in 1603. Ever since she was little, she found that she couldnt find a person that she could love. Like Virgin Queen, she also refused to get married, because she knows that if she married, she would lose power to her husband. Queen Elizabeth I is a great queen. She has personal respect from both, her enemies, and her friends.

When she was young, she enjoyed fights between bears and dogs. She also enjoys watching Shakespeares plays. However, Elizabeth wasnt declared Queen of England until November 17, 1558, when her sister, Mary died. Ever since Mary was little, she was jealous of Elizabeth, and always wanted to do bad things to her. She is a selfish sister, and also very greedy. However, this book also said that Elizabeth is a very selfish person when it comes to protecting her country. Ever since she became the queen of England, her country was safer than before.

Most men wanted her dead, but there are also some people that disagree about it. She became the best ruler of England. Wherever she go, a crowd of people followed her and kneel down before or while she arrived. In emergency, the Parliament decided to tax Elizabeths subjects. Her household cost about 40,000 pounds a year. She tried to reduce people and servants in her household, because of dishonesty. However, according to one of the reporter, Elizabeth once paid 20,000 sheep and lambs, 600,000 gallons of bear, and more than 4 million eggs to the Parliament.

However, during the summer, Elizabeth escaped from the heat, noise, and smells of the city. About 80 percent of the people lived in England, but some of them moved away, because of a plague. Fleas, and rats carried the plague, but the people didnt know that until later on. I would strongly recommend this book to any readers out there, because this is a good book. Even though it only tells about Elizabeths life, it is still an interesting book, because it shows great details about her and her family.

Also how the people of her time act toward her. This book is not a book you want to read if you like books about adventures, and other books, but if you like reading biographies, and about women of the old days, I would strongly recommend this book to you, because this books have most of the details about one person and about a first woman that rule the country. However, if you want to find out information about Elizabeth, I would also recommend this book to you, because it has all the ideas, and important event in it.
