Media’s Portrayal Of Family Life Essay

Today, the media’s portrayal of family life is mainly accurate, even though some portrayals may depict otherwise. Many movies show how families interact and give back to their communities. For example, in the move The Blind Side, the Tuohy family offers up their home to a homeless boy, Michael Oher. This one good deed reflects family life accurately as it shows how families do charity work. Although many families do not give back to their community in such an extreme way, it is promising to see that the media portrays this aspect of family life.

Another example where family life is depicted realistically is in Disney’s television series Good Luck Charlie. In the show, a working-class family is depicted, and it is clear that it takes everyone’s help to operate on a daily basis. In one episode, PJ and Teddy Duncan, the oldest siblings, are in charge of the youngest child, Charlie. They show their responsibility by bringing Charlie to the park and playing with her. Without the help of PJ and Teddy, the Duncan’s would have been in trouble, as they would not have had anyone to watch Charlie. In many episodes, there are little arguments, and the family always solves them in the best way.

Most importantly, it realistically shows how families must work together to live happy lives and function on a daily basis. Specific values that strengthen family life include: loyalty, love, and respect. These same values contribute to the strength of a society as well. It is important for people to stay loyal to their community, especially in times of need. For example, after a hurricane or a tornado, it is crucial that community members stay loyal and do not desert their community. Every ounce of help is needed during those hard times and it is important for community members to realize this.

Love is always important in contributing to the strength of a society. There will always be people in our community who are not as fortunate as others. As such, it is necessary for community members to show love and give back to their community, by donating money or food, working in a soup kitchen, or by providing shelter, water, or clothes. Lastly, it is necessary that all show respect to their community. One can do this by simply not littering and recycling. This helps to keep the community clean and shows respect to the community and to nature.

All of these values contribute to the strength of a society because they all pertain to the wellness of the community. Being loyal to the community helps in times of need, as people come together and build relationships. Showing love to those who are less fortunate than others strengthens the community as well, as it can help remove those from such bad situations. Finally, showing respect to our community helps to strengthen society as it contributes to the appearance of the community by working together. The strength of a family strengthens a society. In most situations, a family with a strong bond gives off a positive vibe.

This strengthens a society as it fills the community with positive feelings and hopefully encourages others to strengthen their family. Positive aspects will always overpower the negative ones, so the more positive families, the more positive the community will be. Similarly, the collapse of the family can portend the collapse of a society. Once a family starts to collapse, surrounding neighbors will begin to get negative vibes. Even if these neighbors have positive feelings, the negative ones will creep around. This will slowly shed off negative vibes to the entire community, and this might turn into a collapse of a community.

Talk It Over” Textbook page 208 There is a lot of wisdom from Christian faith about responsible human sexuality that I find helpful and might share to others. For example, people should understand what sexuality really is: the God-given fit of being a man or a woman. It is important to realize right away that it is a God-given gift. Every individual should recognize and embrace their sexual identity. Many biblical references include the idea of human sexuality in marriage partnership. It is integral that a man and woman united in marriage understand that all other human relationships stem from their own relationship. St.

John Paul II’s, “Theology of the Body,” teaches about the goodness and sacredness of the human body. Couples should wait until marriage to share their truest and most intimate self. Someone who is in an unhealthy relationship should receive advice from someone who understands human sexuality. First, I would tell them that God creates man and woman equal. If their partner is not treating them equal, they should try to change their relationship or leave the relationship before it becomes too serious. In addition, the partner in the unhealthy relationship should recognize if the relationship is both lovegiving and life-giving.

They should focus on these aspects to try and improve the current situation. Most importantly, the partner should feel safe in the relationship. Many problems stem from the idea of equality. The solution can be as simple as reinforcing the idea of man and woman created equal. However, it is sometimes easier said than done, so if the relationship is seriously unhealthy, the best advice would be to leave the relationship. If not, they should take all of this wisdom and advice to fix the relationship and focus on making everything positive.
