Escape Timeline Paragraphs Essay

Timeline Paragraphs Event #1, titled: ‘Deciding to Escape’, is the most important event in the story. This event introduces the conflict and starts off the story. In ‘Deciding to Escape’, we learn that Connor knows he is going to be unwound. Connor decides to run away with Ariana, but Ariana refuses the offer. Without the first event happening, the rest of the book wouldn’t have happened or would have been changed dramatically. For example, if Ariana didn’t suggest they run away, than Connor might have never thought of the idea and became an AWOL, then meet Risa and Lev.

The significance of this occurrence is incredibly important. We meet the main character, his situation and we are introduced to the concept of unwinding. Without the first bit of the book, the readers wouldn’t have understood anything that came later on in the book and wouldn’t have understood why Connor decided to run away. Event #2, titled: ‘Running Away’ is the second most important event. This event introduces the main character to two more characters who are going through the same situation as him. He meets Risa and Lev in this event.

I ranked this event as the second most important because this is the chapter were he meets the people who will be with him for the remainder of the book and the ones who will influence him the most. Thus, this event has significance that could impact the rest of the story. For example, if Connor didn’t meet Risa, he might have continued his ‘old ways’ and continued stealing, instead of using his head and finding a clever way to find his way out of the problem. Also, if Risa and Lev weren’t in this event, the rest of the events to follow wouldn’t make any sense.

Event #4, titled: ‘Going/ At the Antique Shop’, is the third most important event in the story. In this event, Connor and Risa meet three more characters that are also stuck in their position, which is all of them were going to be Unwinds. Connor meets his rival and Risa gets to have the baby stroked by Hannah, the teacher. This event is the transition event between leaving a society where unwinding is a common practice to going to the Graveyard, where Unwinds are accepted by who they are. The significance of this novel is that Connor and Risa are going to have a longing impression of Sonia, who generously helped them.

Without this event, the readers would have been confused about what would happen next. This event would impact the rest of the events that follow along in the rest of the story. For example, if Risa didn’t give the baby to Hannah, the baby would have slowed them down for the rest of the story. This event is the third most important event because I don’t think this event is as important as Running Away. This is because in Running Away, Connor meets people who he will have strong connections with till the end of the book, while in this event he meets people who have a weaker connection with him.

Event #7, titled: ‘Admiral’s Heart Attack’ is the fourth most important event. In this event, the Admiral has a heart attack, while the power is turned off in his plane making the temperatures sky-rocket. Thus, makes the main characters go to the hospital with him. While there, Roland makes a deal with a police officer, which causes every Unwind from the Graveyard to be forced to go to the Happy Jack Harvest Camp. This event is significant to the rest of the story because without this event, the main characters would have never gone to the harvest camp, which would impact the rest of the book.

They would have never had to gone through the pain of knowing they could lose one of their friends at any time. Without this event, the main characters would have been stuck at the Graveyard and not have been able to save the other lives of other Unwinds at the harvest camp. This is the fourth most important event because without this event, I don’t think the significance of this event would mean a lot if this event was taken out compared to the other events. Event #9, titled: ‘Ley to the Rescue’, is the fifth most important event. Here, the Clappers detonate the harvest camp saving Connor in the process.

This is the fifth most important event because this event leads up to the big finale, where the main characters are being saved from being Unwinds because of their unique situation. Without this event, the main characters would have never got their happily ever after and Connor would have never gotten to run the Graveyard with Risa and Lev. This event was one of my favorites because it shows how much Lev has matured throughout the book, at the beginning he was a naive tithe and now he is not afraid to protect his friends. Lev was one of my favorite character beside Risa, and in this event, it highlights what he is capable of doing.
