I’ve grown in academic success by job shadowing my audiologist. I learned new skills such as applying communication and technology in the job, using softwares in the computer and knowing how to use some machines to adjust the hearing aids. In my English class I was learning how to research job sites and additional information. I also took a personality test which helped decide what job is for each personality. The project consisted of sending out job shadow permissions and asking them to call back . I had additional places I couldve gone job shadowed, but ended up job shadowing one person. The only place that offers this specific program is in San Diego. I don’t know if I see myself going that far from home. The audiologist got her bachelors in India and back then she didn’t need to be enrolled in a specific program. She mentioned that it would take me the same four years to get a bachelors. In addition, the program is four years long. I am grateful of experiencing a job shadow. Also now I have some information about being an audiologist and this will help me decide on my career choice. I want to have a open mind of other careers that are out there but I will consider audiology as one of my choices. This experience has motivated me in working harder towards getting this career choice into reality such as hitting all the requirements in becoming an audiologist.
