Zachary David Efron: The Potato Man

Zachary David Alexander Efron, also known as Troy Bolton, or the love of my life. He has starred in numerous movies and countless tv shows. Anyone would be able to recognize his beautiful face and his unforgettable smile. His perfectly toned body really sets the mood for every movie that he takes his shirt off in. However, he was not always gorgeous. When he first popped out of the womb on October 18th, 1987 he looked like a potato. Who knew that a potato could bloom and turn into a talented actor and singer.

His mom Starla Baskett, a bold name choice might I add, and David Efron are the reasons for this wonderful potato man being who he is today. If it was not for them pushing him to pursue his acting and singing career in fifth grade we would not have great films like High School Musical, 17 Again, and Baywatch. Back before he got into the acting he was just known as the class clown. Despite his humorous attitude he would still strive to get good grades. Which may be one of the reasons he is so successful today. Besides the grades, the immense support from his parents helped his acting career take off.

His parents pushed him to audition for anything they could find, sometimes without him even knowing what he was acting for. He could not have many friends because he was always busy with theatre. His first ever production was for the musical “Gypsy”, after winning the part at the audition his parents did not inform him of. Along with the help of singing lessons, drama classes, and a little more showbiz experience,he landed parts on bigger things like television. His first television appearance was on the tv series Firefly. In 2002 when he was fourteen he played a young crew member named Simon on a smuggler’s ship.

This experience ultimately lead him to get spots in movies and other shows in the early 2000s. At this point he was starting to make a name for himself, but nobody really knew who he was until his appearance in the hit teen movie “High School Musical”. However, before that he was still staring in underground movies such as “ The Big Wide World of Carl Laemke”, “Melinda’s World”, and “Miracle Run” throughout the early 2000s. Starting in 2005 when he got the part as Troy Bolton would his fame as a high school hunk really begin.

Zac and Vanessa Hudgens, the actress for the role of Gabriella Montez, had their audition together for their parts as star crossed lovers. Perhaps they got the parts because they actually had felt something when they met each other, showing as how they began dating once they got to know one another more on set. Maybe them actually falling love on and off set is the reason it looked so believable on our own tv screens. Even though they did not kiss once in the first film, we all still got the idea of how much they felt for each other.

At the beginning of the production of the movie they were awkward and strangers but once they had got used to acting together they quickly became comfortable with one another. Comfortable enough to start a relationship and date until 2010. The movies about a basketball star, Troy Bolton, and a new brainy student, Gabriella Montez, discovering their love for singing and acting together as they struggle with school drama and their high school crushes on eachother. It feels as if these actors were made for their roles. Except Zac did not have to choose between basketball and acting because it was acting since the start for him.

After “High school Musical” first aired on Disney Channel it was an immediate classic. It was very popular among the teens in high school and the younger teens looking forward to high school. I speak for all teen girls when I say Troy Bolton was the dream high school lover. After being recognized as a solid actor, he was off to star in more movies, but the “High School Musical’ movies did not stop there. How could Disney not create a second after the first one was so successful? “High school Musical 2” was in the works as soon possible, Zac’s high school hunk days were not over yet.

However, whilst he was shooting the second high school musical, he also got the part of Link Larkin in “Hairspray”. It must have been hard for Zac with two completely different roles. In an interview with Steve ‘Frosty’ Weintraub on July 15, 2007, Steve asked him about getting the part for Link Larkin, and Zac responded with “ I went in there and I was told that where I was at I was too young, too happy, and too innocent so, I ( Too Disney- Brittany Snow) I won’t say that. A few weeks later they called and said, ‘Can you dirty it up? Can you grunge it up?

Can you make it more edgy? ’ And I said, ‘Bring it on. ’ And yeah, I guess it worked. I was glad Adam had an open mind. ” So you could tell that two productions at once must be a struggle with how people will judge by your previous roles. While Zac was opening up to more and different movies, other movie directors saw him less as an innocent little teenybopper. Once “High School Musical 2” launched in 2007 it did not have as big as an impact as the first one did but I speak for every fan when I say we were glad for a sequel. As high school musical came out so did “Hairspray”.

It received a lot of positive reviews especially from the ladies. It won ladies choice award and perhaps it was because Zac Efron’s sex appeal. Zac Efron did not stop there. The ‘East High’ Students have yet to graduate. Their senior year was what their next movie is about. Whilst everyone was sad to see the trilogy come to an end, we all wanted to know how it would pan out. The movies shows the fear that Zac and Gabriella experience while the end of their high school love approaches. They despise the idea of being separated once they go to college.

It seems as while high school musical came to an end, Zac started a new era of himself. He became a new Zac and started acting in more provocative themed movies like “17 Again” in 2009 and “Neighbors” in 2014. Films like the 2016“Dirty Grandpa” are very inappropriate for younger viewers unlike his past high school flicks. Zac improved his acting and gained more fame in the process. His upcoming movie “Baywatch” looks very promising and Zac’s role as a sexy lifeguard almost fits him perfectly. That might be the reason every part he plays is so splendid.

As Zac Efron himself matured and grew so did the theme of the movies he participated in. Speaking of maturing, Zac and Vanessa’s relationship ended way back in December, 2010 due to them fighting too much. Maybe they were stressed from all the movies they had to worry about, but in an interview with Dusty Baxter-Wright on March 27, 2017 Vanessa said, “I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up. Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares”, so it is confirmed that it is Vanessa’s fault and Zac is innocent.

After Vanessa Hudgens broke his heart, he found a new love in February, 2011 with an actress Teresa Palmer. After she got old, paparazzi found Zac in an off an on type of relationship with Lily Collins from 2012 to 2013. Apparently Zac has a thing for costars because as he was shooting “Neighbors” he became an item with Halston Sage in 2014. Nothing was confirmed but with the assumptions and suspicions of his fans it looked a whole lot like a relationship. He had a couple hit and quits with other actresses like Michelle Rodriguez from “Fast and Furious 8”.

After he got done messing around with woes he started one of his more serious relationships with a girl named Sami Miro from 2014 to 2016. Once Zac realized that their relationship had not felt the same after two years he pulled the plug and started to focus more on his career. And for a good cause because we all love to see Zac Efron act and act even better than before. With the new “Baywatch” coming out and with Zac as one of the leads it is safe to say that Zac’s acting career is still alive and kicking and getting better at every moment.

The future for him is looking even brighter than it did when he was in his high school hunk days. He can only go up from here as we can only speculate that he has more and more movies to come with roles that we have never expected him to play. Zac has really made a name for himself over the years and has really grown to be a dashing, very muscular man. I speak the truth when I say he is one of the best actors to ever live and will go down in history with the greatests.
