Domhnall Gleeson is an Irish writer, actor and producer who first gained international recognition for his role in the Harry Porter film franchise where he played Bill Weasley. In 2014, the famed actor contended with his father for the award of the Best Lead Actor in films at the Irish Film and Television Awards, but his dad, Brendan Gleeson, clinched the award. Brendan also won the 2015 award for the Best Supporting Actor at the British Independent Film Award for which he was nominated along with his son.

After Domhnall’s graduation from the university with a degree in Media Arts, the young star went into directing for the theater as well as movies, but the lure of an acting career was so strong and eventually, he joined the miniseries Rebel Heart which premiered in 2001. He has had his fair share of awards and nominations which include a 2006 Tony Award nomination for his part in The Lieutenant of Inishmore. He is also a three-time Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) Award winner for his roles in Frank (2014), When Harvey Met Bob (2010) and Anna Karenina (2012).

The versatile entertainer was born on the 12th of May 1983 in Dublin, Ireland. He is the eldest son of Mary Weldon and Brendan Gleeson, a legendary actor. The Irish actor grew up with three brothers – Brian Gleeson who is a known actor, Rory Gleeson and Fergus Gleeson. He attended Malahide Community School where the emerging entertainer was very active in school productions. He performed in several school plays including Grease and King Lear. Domhnall Gleeson proceeded to Dublin Institute of Technology where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Arts.

Gleeson has appeared in several theater projects and movies alongside his dad Brendan Gleeson who is a renowned actor. Another thing he has in common with his dad is the love of the English soccer team, Aston Villa. As previously mentioned, his mother is Mary Gleeson (nee Weldon) and he has three siblings. All his brothers are involved with the entertainment industry in one way or another. Brian is a fellow actor, Rory is a Second Unit Director/Assistant Director while Fergus is a composer and an actor as well. It’s apparent that creativity and love for the arts run in their family.

Even though he has never been married, his name has been linked with that of a few women in the past. It became public knowledge that he had a relationship with Rachel McAdams who was his co-star on the set of the movie About Time. Recently, his name has been linked to Juliette Bonas who is an Irish producer. The rumors started when the duo were seen hanging out but neither of them have deemed it necessary to come up with a confirmation or rebuttal of the purported relationship.

The young entertainer started with writing and directing after graduating from university. In 2001, he made his first screen appearance in Rebel Heart, a British TV miniseries. His film debut was made on the set of Six Shooter alongside his dad in 2004, Six Shooter went on to win the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in the same year.

Since his screen debut, he has been a popular face on television and has featured in several films and television series. Popular among his movies are Harry Potter And The Deathly Hollows Part 1 & 2, About Time, Ex Machina and The Revenant, Unbroken, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, A Dog Year, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Peter Rabbit and Never Let Me Go. His popular television series include The Last Furlong, Your Bad Self, Black Mirror, Rebel Heart and Catastrophe. Thanks to his growing clout, he has a lot of films on his docket with several films slated to be released in the coming years.
