Management Reflection

There are countless management styles out there, but one that is often overlooked is the reflection management style. This approach to management encourages employees to take time to reflect on their work, both individually and as a team. This can be done through regular check-ins, brainstorming sessions, or even just dedicated reflection time built into the work week.

The benefits of this type of management are many. For one, it allows employees to take stock of their progress and identify areas where they may need improvement. It also encourages creativity and collaboration, as employees are encouraged to share ideas and thoughts with each other. And finally, it can help build a stronger sense of team spirit and camaraderie, as everyone is working together towards common goals.

If you’re looking for a management style that will encourage growth and development in your team, the reflection management style is a great option to consider.

An organization’s success is reliant on the efficiency of its management team. The methods learned in this course regarding different management styles, both good and bad qualities, and various scenarios that managers may face will be examined.

Management styles will be classified and related to the author’s working experience. Management is a process of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling resources needed to achieve organizational goals (Bateman & Snell, 2009). Management style is the way in which management is conducted within an organization. Management styles have been categorized as authoritarian, participative, or delegative/laissez-faire (Bateman & Snell, 2009).

The authoritarian management style is top-down decision making where the leader tells subordinates what to do and how to do it with little or no input from them. The advantages of this style are that decisions can be made quickly and there is clear direction from the leader. The disadvantages are that subordinate creativity and motivation may be stifled and that subordinates may resent the leader for not involving them in decision making.

The participative management style is a bottom-up approach where the leader seeks input from subordinates before making decisions. The advantages of this style are that it can lead to buy-in from subordinates on decisions and can motivate them to implement decisions. The disadvantages are that decision making may take longer and the leader may have difficulty maintaining control over the direction of the organization.

The delegative/laissez-faire management style is a hands-off approach where the leader gives subordinates authority to make decisions. The advantages of this style are that it can empower subordinates and allow them to develop their decision-making skills. The disadvantages are that the leader may lose control over the direction of the organization and that subordinates may make decisions that are not in line with the organization’s goals.

The Management style that will be used in this company is the Reflection Management Style. This Management style is based on three different management styles which are authoritarian, participative, and delegative/laissez-faire. The aim of this Management style is to get input from subordinates before making decisions.

A management quiz taken at the beginning of this course will be compared to a current quiz, and any differences will be clarified. This course has taught students about the roles management plays in a health organization, as well as how much involvement from the management team can contribute to accomplishments.

The Management Quiz results showed that the majority of the class (67%) had little to no experience in management while 33% claimed to have some experience. In the current quiz, 100% of the class reported having some experience in management. This represents a significant increase in the amount of Management experience in the class. The Management Quiz also showed that 100% of the class was unfamiliar with Management Styles.

One of the most important traits for a manager is to be receptive to others’ suggestions, humble, and compassionate. With burnout being such a common occurrence in the health care industry, managers much be vigilant for symptoms and take strides to reduce them. Another key factor that separates motivated employees from engaged employees is  fundamentally essential to consider when running an organization.

The Management by Objectives (MBO) method is a way of management that provides a road map for attaining specific objectives through setting goals and measuring progress.

Skills required: Managers need to be analytical in order to understand their team’s work, creative in order to come up with new ideas to improve productivity, and organized in order to keep track of deadlines and projects. They should also be able to communicate effectively in order to give clear instructions and provide feedback.

The Reflection Management Style takes all of these skills into account and provides a system that allows managers to see where they can improve. This style offers a step-by-step process that begins with identifying the problem, then brainstorming possible solutions, testing those solutions, and finally implementing the best solution.

The advantages of using the Reflection Management Style are that it helps managers to be more aware of their own strengths and weaknesses, it forces them to think creatively about solutions, and it provides a framework for testing those solutions before making any decisions. This style can also help managers to avoid burnout by giving them a structured way to approach their work.

The disadvantages of using the Reflection Management Style are that it can take longer to come up with a solution, and it may not always be clear what the best solution is. Additionally, this style requires managers to have a good understanding of their team’s work in order to be effective.

The difficulty of recognizing that others’ objectives may not be the same as yours is a struggle, but understanding and listening to others’ needs can help you overcome it. The findings of the most recent quiz were relatively similar to those in the first (M. Center , 2014). Over time, with practice and follow-through on expertise, team management skills will improve.

Management style is a vital piece to the success of a team, and each manager has different styles that work for them. The results of this quiz illustrate that my management style is mostly laissez-faire with a large focus on independent work. Management styles are not set in stone and can be changed based on the needs of the team or project at hand.
