In 2016, Dan Amos stepped down as CEO but remained Chairman of the Board (AFLAC Inc., 2018). Paul S. Amos II, Dan’s son, was named President and CEO. Dan Amos continues to be an active member of the AFLAC Board and is involved in the strategic direction of the company.
Aflac has been a leader in ethical business practices and this is largely due to the ethical behavior of Dan Amos. Amos has been a strong advocate for ethical business practices and has implemented several initiatives to ensure that AFLAC operates in an ethical manner. For example, Amos established the Office of Ethics and Compliance which is responsible for ensuring that employees comply with all applicable laws and regulations. In addition, AFLAC has adopted a Code of Business Conduct and Ethics that applies to all employees. The code provides guidance on a range of topics including conflicts of interest, bribery and corruption, and protecting company assets (AFLAC Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, 2013).
In addition to his work at AFLAC, Amos has also served on the boards of several organizations including the Council for Excellence in Government, the Georgia Research Alliance, and the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta.
