I feel that many of these issues might be addressed if schools offered children healthier lunches. These lunch programs would educate youngsters about how to put together healthy lunches and/or snacks. Another factor that I think is important is the cost of groceries. In my experience, it is cheaper to buy a bag of chips or a box of cookies than it is to buy a bunch of fruits or vegetables. With the way the economy is, people are struggling to make ends meet, so they cut corners where they can. I think if junk food was more expensive, people would be less likely to buy it as often. They would instead opt for healthier options that are not as costly.
Junk food should be banned for many reasons. It’s unhealthy, it’s contributing to the obesity epidemic, and it’s too easy to access. If we want to have a chance at improving the quality of life in America, we need to start with the food we eat. We need to make healthier choices and teach our children how to do the same.
We certainly can’t control what students eat outside of school, but I truly believe that once they realize how wonderful it is to be healthy, they will want to eat healthier at home as well. Consider this: if the school could improve the quality of the food it served and get rid of all junk food, we would be a step closer to having a healthier society.
The bottom line is that schools should not serve junk food. Nutrition is important, especially for growing children. By providing healthy options, we can help set them up for success in life. Not to mention, it might just save a few lives along the way.

Children who ate a nutritious lunch and took a test afterward would most certainly do better on it, because they’d be more awake and energetic. Our students’ test results in the United States would improve, as well as their confidence.

These foods can be difficult to resist, especially for children who haven’t developed self-control yet.
Junk food is also easily accessible and usually cheaper than healthier options. Fast food restaurants are everywhere, and they’re open late. It’s easy to drive through and pick up a burger and fries or get a pizza delivered. And let’s face it, junk food tastes good!
