A Writing Self-Assessment Reflection

Writing Self-Assessment Reflection

My strength in writing is that I have the ability to catch my reader’s attention. I am true to myself and when I write it shows. I hold nothing back and have no hollowness in my words. I know that one of many weaknesses I have in my writing is over analyzing myself. I am hard on myself and always wanting perfection in my writing, it was defiantly one of my downfalls.

I know that I will have to improve on making my point clear. One of the things I can do to improve my writing skills is to read the assignments carefully and make sure I am clear on what is required in the assignment.

A way I can be successful in my writing is using the resources available to me like the Student Success Center, The writing process and tutoring services provided by GCU.

The types of writing that I did in the past was basic High school writing. Expository, Persuasive, Narrative and Descriptive. I am not a strong writing formally but I can write really well when I am free writing or when sharing my personal thoughts. I enjoy freelance writing the most.

To be a successful writer in College I will have to change the way I look at writing in every way. I will have to have a strategy each time I begin to write a new paper. From preparing to write and drafting the paper, to polishing the conclusion. A strategy that I will use to ensure my writing is successful is making sure I understand the assignment, take notes, take time to study and use the resources available to me.
